Starring: Dev Anand, Waheeda Rahman/ Dolby Digital/ English Subtitles Synopsis: Laaj a young college girl is very much infatuated towards her class mate named Shyam. One day, when Laaj's father fixes her marriage with some other boy not to her liking, Shyam persuades her to elope with him. He promises to take her to his parents. As he pretends to be short of money, she agrees to bring some ornaments, which will help them meet their expenses till they reach Shyam's parents. They plan to meet at 10 O'Clock at the railway station. As Laaj returns home, her father tells her that he has to catch the morning plane for Bangalore, in order to fix up her marriage and asks her to wake him at 5 A.M. When everyone in the house is asleep, she sneaks out, taking along a very valuable necklace. She meets at the appointed hour and together they reach Bombay Central. In the locan train Pran a journalist overhears theur conversation which is very risky and so in order to get an interesting story for his paper, he follows them . Shyam leaves Laaj at the station and runs with the necklace. The poor girl is left stranded. Pran comes to her rescue and together they follow Shyam. A taxi drivre gives them the address of a film stdio where he dropped Shyam. Pran goes to the film Studio and searches for him in vain. But he posts his friends there in the studio to jeep an eyeon Shyam if he happens to be there. And himself goes to seek the help of the police. When he asks Laaj to accompany him to the Police Station, she refuses to do so. She walks away crying from that place. Pran again follow her, She jumps in to the sea. And is rescued by Pran. Then she narrates the whole episode. Pran consoles her and tells her that he will do his best to trace Shyam, recover the necklace from him and reach her home before 5 A.M. Tey again go back to the film studio and after a hectic search find out Shyam has already given the necklace to Neena, a film dancer. What happens next? Does Laaj reach home before her father awakes? What happens to laaj marriage? Who was Shyam ? All these answers will be solved in the thrilling climax.
